DayPuzzling
Privacy.
DayPuzzling is a puzzle, not a data business. It asks for an email address so that a score can belong to somebody, and it stores nothing else about you. There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking of any kind.
You can play without giving anything
The puzzle works with no account at all. Nothing leaves your device until you choose to sign in. Signing in is what puts your runs on the leaderboard and keeps your statistics.
What is stored on our side
Only if you sign in:
- Your email address. It identifies the account and is where sign-in codes are sent. It is never shown to other players.
- Your player name. This is public. It appears on the leaderboards beside your scores.
- Each run you finish: which puzzle, which date, your score, the time you took, how many checks you used, when you finished, and the solution you built — which piece you put where. Your name, score and solution are public: any player can open a leaderboard row and look at the solution behind it.
- A sign-in code while one is outstanding. It is stored hashed, never in readable form, lasts ten minutes, is used once, and is destroyed after five wrong attempts.
- A sign-in token, so you do not have to sign in every day. It lasts 400 days.
That is the whole list. No location, no contacts, no device identifiers, no advertising identifiers, no profile of any kind.
What stays on your device and never leaves it
The game keeps a few things in your browser's local storage. It sets no cookies.
- Your player name and your sign-in token.
- A copy of your own past runs, so the game works offline.
- Your settings, such as sound and vibration.
- A short error log — at most twenty entries — written when something goes wrong. It never leaves your device unless you press “Email a report” in Settings, which opens your own mail app with the text in it. You can read it first, and you can clear it.
Clearing your browser's site data removes all of it.
Who else is involved
- Cloudflare hosts the site and stores the data described above.
- Resend sends the sign-in and account-deletion emails, and therefore receives your email address. Mail is sent from [email protected].
That is the entire list. No other company is contacted at all. The typefaces are served from this site rather than from Google Fonts, so no third party learns that you visited. Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared with anyone else. The leaderboard server does not record IP addresses.
Fonts
The typefaces are Inter and Baloo 2, both free software under the SIL Open Font License, served from this site so that nobody else is told you were here. Their licence is here.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time, from Settings inside the game or from this page, which needs nothing installed. We email a six-digit code first, so that nobody else can do it for you.
What is removed: your account, your email address, your sign-in, and your saved statistics. Your player name becomes free for somebody else to take.
What stays: scores you have already set stay on the leaderboards, under the name you set them with, together with the time, the number of checks and the solution you submitted. Removing them would change the standings of every other player on days they have already played. If you want a score removed as well, write to us and ask.
Children
The game is suitable for any age. It collects nothing beyond what is listed above from anybody, whatever their age.
Changes
If this ever changes, the date at the top changes with it.
Asking us anything
Write to [email protected] — including to ask for a copy of what is held about you, or to have something corrected or removed.
